Walk with a Ranger

Come for a walk with a Brighton Ranger along the South Downs. Its a wonderful opportunity for children and parents alike to get away from the noise and crowds of modern life into a tranquil landscape of fresh air, and rolling hills. (Adam - 10)

What is the Devil’s Dyke?
Was it really dug by the devil to drown the parishioners of the weald?

Devil’s Dyke

This is a great chance to walk on the downs with a Brighton Ranger, to find out about the land, the wildlife and fauna as well as the history of the Dyke.
Our guide has been a Brighton Ranger for over 20 years so knows the downs around Brighton better than anyone!

This one-time chance is on the 8th of May 2010, from
1:30 to 4:30.

See if you spot the early purple orchids, the bluebells, and the ransoms.

We will meet near the trig point on top of the Dyke in front of the pub - note that the car park is pay and display. If the weather is good it may be very busy - please leave time to find a space. Bring a drink and snacks, good walking shoes or boots and waterproofs. We will be walking about 3 miles over hilly terrain which is not suitable for buggies or toddlers who need to be carried.
